Pubs have been closing at around 3 per day, and now with covid-19, many will be closed for good. The biggest at threat are the small local pubs you find in rural areas.
These pubs are seen to be the heart of most countryside communities, and the longer they are kept closed the harder it will be to reopen.
She is attempting the largest pub tour around England, Scotland and Wales, visiting 150 in 12 months, filming each experience for the general public to watch in her vlog and follow her journey. “I want to create a platform for pubs to be featured, trying the food, drinks, hospitality. Meeting new people and also exploring the local areas in a bid to help tourism & hospitality recover from the devastating effect that the pandemic has left”
Rebecca, being a former teacher of hospitality and a keen motorhomer is going to travel the UK with her motorhome called Hank Jr and her best friend Marvin the Beagle. “I had planned on travelling with my partner but sadly he passed away last year, so I am taking our dream of travel and using my skills of hospitality to keep his memory alive and also help the sector I am most passion about”
Each pub will be an overnight visit, tasting the local food & drinks, then the next day getting out and about, showcasing the best of what British pubs have to offer, including famous sites and landmarks along the way. “The journey will be open to the public to see where I am, so they can either come and join me or follow in my footsteps in the hope that people will be reminded, not only how much fun we can have visiting Britain, but also that we need to support our local pubs”
Rebecca is asking for anyone who wants to get involved, supporter or pub owner, to contact her via firstname.lastname@example.org you can also find her on YouTube and follow her journey: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5kw-AldsCxxNis0CZCfAIw
